MAMA Student Dress Code

 A students dress is a reflection of their discipline and respect for the art form. 

Placement and lines are paramount in dance. 

Our dress code allows our teachers to observe and correct the posture and alignment of our students. 

We ask that students come dressed prepared to dance in the appropriate dance attire for class. 

Hair needs to be secured and out of the face, in a bun for Ballet classes.

Jewelry, watches, fit bits, street shoes & cell phones/electronic devices are to be left

outside of the dance studios at all times.

MAMA DanceWear Store carries all dance wear items right at the Academy for your convenience.

HAIR: In a bun for Ballet, bun or ponytail for all other classes. Boys neat and clean.
WARM-UPS: Form fitting dance style attire in winter months, at beginning of class only.

YOUNG DANCERS: Black or Pink Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers. 

Boys: White T-shirt, Black dance pants, Black Ballet Slippers.

FUNDAMENTALS Level 1: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet slippers, Black Tap & Jazz Shoes.

Boys: White T-shirt, Black Dance Pants, Black Ballet Slippers, Black Tap & Jazz Shoes.

BALLET & POINTE: Black Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers, Pink Pointe Shoes. 

Dance Skirts allowed in center only. Hair in a bun with hairnet and pins. 

Boys: Black Dance Pants, Black or White T-shirt, Black Ballet Slippers.

JAZZ : Black Jazz Pants, Black Leotard, Black Jazz Shoes.

Boys: Black Dance Pants & Black T-shirt, Black Jazz Shoes.

TAP: Black Leotard, Black Dance Pants/Leggings or Tap Shorts/Skirt, Black Tap Shoes. Oxford Style.

Boys: Black Dance Pants, Black or White T-Shirt, Black Tap Shoes/Oxford Style.

MODERN: Black Dance Pants, Black Leotard, Long Sleeve, Black T-shirt for Floor Work, Bare Feet.

Boys: Black Dance Pants, Black T-shirt, Bare Feet. 

HIP-HOP: Black Leotard, Black Dance Pants, Clean Black Sneakers. 

Boys: Black Hip-Hop Style dance Pants or Dance Pants, Black T-shirt, Clean Black Sneakers.

MAMA PERFORMANCE COMPANY: Black Leotard, Black Dance Pants or Tights. Please, no loose clothing such as sweatshirts, etc.

ADULT CLASSES: Black Leotard or Fitted Top, Black Jazz Dance Pants, Leggings or Tights. 

Please refrain from heavily patterned fabrics & loose garments, as it is difficult to ascertain lines and placement. 

Ballet Slippers for Ballet. Black Tap shoes for Tap, Black Jazz shoes for Jazz and bare feet for Modern class.

Hair pulled back off of face for Tap, Jazz & Modern, in a bun for Ballet.

Adults are our best role models for the younger students, they will emulate what they see.
